Norwood Young America offers outstanding infrastructure to meet the needs of existing and prospective businesses.
Transportation Network
Roadways – Norwood Young America is located at the nexus of two major highways: US Highway 212 and MN TH 5. Both provide quick access into the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. NYA is just 20 minutes from Interstate-494.
Rail Service - Norwood Young America is also situated along the Twin Cities & Western and the Prairie Line Railroads. There is the abilityl to bring a rail siding into the northern most lots in the new Tacoma West Industrial Park.
Furthermore, there are discussions under way to develop a “Team Track” on property owned by the City just north of the Tacoma West Industrial Park, which will allow businesses that do not have rail access the opportunity to take advantage of rail service.
Air Service – Norwood Young America is located approximately 40 minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The Airport is easily accessible via US Highway 212 and Interstate 494.
The Glencoe, Minn, Municipal Airport is just 11 miles to the west of NYA. It is located one mile south of US Highway 212. This airport features a 3,300 foot long paved runway. Fuel is available.
Utilities
Gas and Electric – The city of Norwood Young America is served by Xcel Energy. The new Tacoma West Industrial Park is served by Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative and Centerpoint Energy.
Telecommunications - CenturyLink provides telephone and high speed Internet service to residents and businesses in Norwood Young America.
The City is currently working with Carver County to bring fiber optics to the community. The project should be complete by the end of 2011.
Cable – Mediacom provides cable TV service to Norwood Young America.
